Textiel Museum and Studio Job collaborate on design collection

Published
Oct 3, 2017

In celebration of the 15th anniversary of the first of many collaborations between the Dutch Textiel Museum (textile museum) and design duo Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel of Studio Job, the two have announced a collaborative design collection.

The collection is titled Studio Job by TextielMuseum and is based on a series of design classics reflecting the history of both the designers and the infinite possibilities of the Textiel Museum. It consists of six blankets and nine tea towels featuring instantly recognisable Studio Job patterns. The patterns are based on themes such as perished, which is a pattern of dancing animal skeletons; insects, a classic insect design first introduced in a 2003 collaboration between the museum and the designers; and folklore, an ode to local folklore.

The collection will premiere during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, as part of the Textiel Museum pop-up presentation. The products will then become available from 19 October via the Textiel Museum web shop.

The Textiel Museum annually develops new products for its textile label, By TextielMuseum. The technical knowledge behind textile and the museum’s collection serve as an important source of inspiration. The textile label aims to translate the story of today’s designers with modern techniques into new distinctive products.

Studio Job was founded by Smeets and Tynagel in 2000. It produces unique furniture and interior objects for collectors, companies and museums and has its own exhibition space in Antwerp, Belgium. The designers work between Antwerp and Amsterdam. Previous clients include Swarovski, Bulgari and L’Oréal.
