Textile machinery: ITMA attracted 123,000 professionals in Milan

Published

The major trade show for textile industry machinery is held every four years. For its 2015 edition, ITMA, the International Textile Machinery Exhibition, once again drew a crowd: 123,000 professionals from 147 countries gathered in Milan to view how to modernise their manufacturing tools.

The attendance figure recorded a 20% increase, a notable fact in perspective, given how the 2011 edition in Barcelona was affected by the international economic crisis. Nothing of the sort this year: event organiser Cematex (the European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers) was delighted, and its President Charles Beauduin hailed "one of the [show's] best editions", its main theme being sustainable development.

"Our exhibitors remarked that visitors - whether regulars or newcomers to ITMA - were highly attentive in their monitoring of new, innovative solutions capable of generating competitive advantage for them," enthused Charles Beauduin.

Around the aisles, Italy was the most represented country (18% of the total), ahead of India (9%), Turkey (8%) and Germany (7%). They were followed by France, the USA, Iran, Brazil, Pakistan and Spain. The organisers also remarked on a significant presence from Iran, a direct outcome of the recent lifting of the sanctions imposed on the country.

ITMA's next edition will be held in Barcelona, as in 2011. The dates are already set: from 20th to 26th June, at the Fiera de Barcelona Grand Via exhibition centre.
