Ketteler, who served on the board and as a consultant to the company for over 40 years, said he was stepping down for personal reasons. Ketteler’s resignation from the board, effective December 20, brings the number of members of the board from nine to eight.

The board said that it “extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to Mr. Ketteler for his service and loyalty.”

In November, the company, which owns the American Eagle and Aerie brands, reported record revenue of $1.27 billion up 24 percent, for the third quarter ended October 30, 2021. Gross profit was $565 million, up 36 percent from $415 million in the third quarter of 2020.

The company operates stores in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Hong Kong, and ships to 81 countries worldwide through its websites. American Eagle and Aerie merchandise also is available at more than 200 international locations operated by licensees in 33 countries.
