Four becomes two. The Very Group has created a new two-tier retail operations division, consolidating and simplifying its current four-division structure.

The reshuffle means fashion director Emma Alexander and developing categories director Jeremy Stevens are to leave, Retail Week reported.

The new format will see a combined Fashion, Sports, Leisure and Home division led by Sam Wright, currently retail commercial director.

Meanwhile, a combined beauty, electricals, toys and gifts category will be led by electricals category director Victoria Aldrich.

Very will also create a retail operations team led by Mike Wheeler to tackle supply chain issues with a focus on the management of stock, availability and suppliers.

The consolidation coincides with the recent appointment of Robbie Feather as its new managing director of retail. He joined the online fashion and lifestyle group in November from department store group Fenwick where he was management director.

It is understood the new structure changes will have no further impact on jobs within The Very Group, apart from the Alexander and Stevens departures.

A spokesperson for The Very Group told Retail Week: “Building on the success of our category management approach, we’re reorganising our retail team to make it even simpler and more efficient, and to give our customers an even better experience.

“These enlarged category teams will be supported by a new retail operations team. This follows the recent appointment of Robbie Feather as managing director of retail and our strong Christmas trading performance.”
