Vogue Australia appoints celebrity stylist Christine Centenera as editor-in-chief

Vogue Australia announced this week the appointment of renowned stylist and its current fashion director, Christine Centenera as editor-in-chief, to replace Edwina McCann.

She will report to McCann, who will take the role of the magazine’s editorial director and publisher at News Corp Australia.

Based in Australia, the U.S. and UK, Centenera’s first issue as editor-in-chief will be March 2023, according to a press release issued on Tuesday.

“We have worked together for more than 13 years and Christine is my natural choice to succeed me in this role,” McCann said in a statement.

“While I will continue as the magazine’s editorial director and publisher, this change will allow me to focus on our expanding and successful Prestige publishing business at News Corp Australia, which also includes Conde Nast titles GQ Australia and Vogue Living.”

Centenera has been with the Vogue brand since 2012. A popular celebrity stylist, the fashion veteran has also styled Kim Kardashian, Cate Blanchett, Gisele Bünchden, and Naomi Campbell, among others. She also runs her own label, Wardrobe.NYC.

'I'm excited to take on this new role and will work to deliver fresh creativity to the covers of Vogue Australia and across every page of the magazine, championing and nurturing inspiring design and exceptional fashion in Australia and internationally; celebrating interesting people, their achievements and ideas with compassion, intelligence and humour; and naturally exploring gender and always championing diversity and originality," said Centenera.

Most recently, Centenera was attributed to styling Kanye West's controversial 'White Lives Matter' show in Paris, on October 3.
