Y’s will showcase its autumn/ winter 2019/2020 capsule collection at Omotesando Hills on May 25 with the Italian materials manufacturer Alcantara. The collection will mix Yamamoto’s design sensibilities with Alcantara’s textile technologies. The capsule collection will then be sold exclusively at the Y’s flagship store in Omotesando from the end of May.

Y’s previously held a runway show at the Italian embassy in Tokyo in March, 2014, also using Alcantara materials. The brand also collaborated with Alcantara to take part in the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show in the US where Alcantara held a showcase of the various materials it produces including for vehicles and fashion textiles.

Yohji Yamamoto founded Y’s in 1972 and the brand’s flagship in Tokyo’s Omotesando Hills is the only store that stocks all seven Y’s lines including Michiko by Y’s, Y’s Pink, and Rismat by Y’s. Yamamoto is based in Tokyo and Paris and is known for his experimental tailoring and modern take on Japanese aesthetics.

Alcantara was founded in 1972 in Italy and is a materials manufacturer for clothing, accessories, vehicles, and interior design. The business is headquartered in Milan and its production facilities are in Umbria. The business was awarded a Carbon Neutral certification in 2009 and pursues sustainable production methods.
