Christian Dior Parfums establishes closer ties with France's Grasse region

A few days ago, Christian Dior's former mansion, the Château de La Colle Noire, was re-opened after a renovation which lasted two years. The renovation was managed by Christian Dior Parfums, owner of the property, which is located in Montauroux, near Grasse, in France.

The castle will not be open to the general public and will host events organised by Dior. The label stated that it was purchased by Christian Dior himself in 1951, and until his death in 1957 it was his 'enchanted interlude'.

The designer-perfumer was fond of the Grasse area, where he took refuge during the German occupation in WW2, and which is known to have inspired some of his fragrances. Christian Dior notably planted hectares of fragrance flowers at La Colle Noire, such as the centifolia rose and the jasmine grandiflorum. To pay tribute to the Grasse region and the centifolia rose, the fashion label has recently launched 'La Colle Noire', a new fragrance conceived by François Demachy.

But Dior's ties with Grasse do not stop here. According to financial magazine Les Echos, the LVMH label is reportedly negotiating contracts with two new centifolia rose growers, to ensure its supply.

Also, a design centre for Dior and Vuitton fragrances, called ‘Les Fontaines Parfumées’ (The perfumed fountains) will open in Grasse next September.
