Inditex announces that all of its brands will be available to shop online worldwide by 2020

During the reopening of the iconic Zara flagship store on Milan's Corso Vittorio Emanuele on Tuesday, Inditex CEO Pablo Isla announced that all of the company's brands will be available to purchase online from any country around the world by 2020. "We want to make our fashion collections available to all our customers, wherever they are in the world," explained Isla, highlighting that these plans included countries where the company currently has no physical stores.

Online retail is therefore the top priority for the Spanish apparel retail giant for 2020, and will be developed alongside the two other major projects announced for the company owned by billionaire Amancio Ortega: sustainability and the development of RFID (radio-frequency identification). Isla stated that all brands will adopt the group's integrated stock system in their respective stores, allowing online orders to be fulfilled with store inventory in countries where the company has a physical presence. Currently, the integrated stock system has already been implemented in 25 of the 48 markets in which Inditex operates brick-and-mortar stores.

Sustainability was the last of the three objectives for 2020 laid out by Inditex's CEO, who stated that the company is now aiming to introduce its eco-efficiency plan at all of its stores, a model which has been implemented in 80% of its distribution network to date.
