Fashion for Breakfast : New-York Fashion Week Trends - Spring/Summer 2022

Published
Sep 16, 2021

Today we are taking a flight and getting ready for a long trip: to New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 22. Together we will find out, through our research, which new trends stood out at the shows that just ended in the Big Apple: from key pieces to colours, together we will find out what we can expect for the Spring/Summer 22 season.

Crossing Slim Laces: softening the tops and dresses of the S/S 22 season are very slim laces that criss cross over the body and add femininity to every type of garment. These slim laces create criss cross patterns enhancing certain parts of the body thanks to a play of empty and full for a minimal and chic result.

Balloon details: the most eccentric clothes of S/S 22 are new vaporous and puffy volumes that create a “balloon” effect especially on skirts and sleeves. Puffed fabrics with generous hems create draping with a display of chiaroscuro on the clothes, while the very large puff sleeves add a fun and childish touch to the clothes.

Diving into the colour palette of the S/S 22 season we are literally inside a clear and endless sea: all thanks to Pantone 16-4535 Aquarius, with its bright blue sky that creates absolutely striking clothing. It is an electric, airy nuance and that conveys vitality and purity, able to highlight the clean lines while also create very intense and fascinating chiaroscuros on the softest garments.

Of the key pieces there is one in particular that gets us into a time machine and takes us back to a magical era: the ‘70s. We are talking about the 70s preppy set, a skirt suit set that adapts to a thousand variations and reinterpretations, to blend modernity and echoes of the past. The skirt, short and above the knee, matches jackets that alternate between wide collars and other more bon-ton and rounded ones, with attention to the lengths as well: there are longer more fascinating jackets or others with a cropped modern effect. The range of colours is infinite: neon hues such as bright yellow and pink, floral prints and more delicate feminine nuances.
