Trend Atelier: Macro Trend Forecast “MODESTY SOLUTIONS” AW 2016/17

Published
Jun 18, 2015

MODESTY SOLUTIONS questions every day objects, their core functionality and use in our space. There’s a very utilitarian aspect to this theme, tying in with diy maker culture, customized design and utility. It’s a very pragmatic yet inventive outlook at our day-to-day lives and challenges the accessibility to things as well as space management and questions a "cut copy paste" approach seeped in Internet Culture. There is a rebellious aspect to the trend seeking a slower pace and detachment from a world over saturated by trends that come and go.

Expose the way objects are constructed, the inner working of a product and the idea of the “inside out”.
Investigate customizable design features in Interiors and Fashion, looking at convertibility and interchangeability solutions. The idea of separate parts, inside out design and the hybrid use of space inspires designs echoing World War II military accessories as well as constructivist design.
